While I definitely wing it when it comes to planning touristy things to do on a trip, that is not the case when it comes to where to eat. I research everything from the best street food to most romantic dining experiences. Well, while doing this before my first Hanoi trip, La Badiane was the only restaurant that came up on literally every ‘Top’ and ‘Best of’ list for fine dining, fabulous date spot, and acclaimed degustation menu. It’s bright and pretty at lunch and changes to a seductive, candlelit glow in the evening that makes it truly romantic.

My Review: Be sure to arrive early to chill at the bar with a perfectly shaken dirty martini. I did that and was served the amuse bouche at the bar, which was a nice treat (especially as a solo traveller). The only complaint I have is one of personal taste. For fine dining, I prefer when a dish’s champion ingredient is served in its most simplified state to showcase its quality but both my carpaccio and main course scallop dish were both covered in sauce.
