Villas in Bali are the best, and I recently spent a week at Villa Gambar in Umalas and absolutely loved it. The villa started out as someone’s holiday home, which means that it was designed to be a home away from home, with everything you’d need to be happy and comfy. And well, it definitely is! In fact, it’s one of the comfiest villas I’ve ever stayed in. The dining room is lovely, there are work areas, lounge areas, and even small attentions to detail like Harman Kardon speakers (the exact same ones I have at home actually!).
I booked through TheBaliAgent.com and they made my check-in and check-out times really convenient for me. The staff was really helpful as well, running out to fetch some batteries I needed and pulling together breakfast as a special request.
Check it out in a video tour:
Why You’ll Love Villa Gambar
- It is located just a few minute’s by taxi to Potato Head, WooBar, and tons of fabulous dining and cocktail hotspots. I used Grab (the Uber of Asia) during my stay and it was easy-peasy!
- The indoor/outdoor pool is huge, with areas for sun or shade almost all day long.
- It’s great for a group of three couples – OR – a single family.
- The villa is even prettier at night, which makes it a blissful place to chill in the evenings.
3 En-Suite Bedrooms
I think the best feature of Villa Gambar is the fact that all three en-suite bedrooms are separated and apart from the others. The first room in the pics below is the nicest and most private of the three in my opinion, although the other two are more charming and have a much more Balinese feel to them.
All rooms have:
- Air conditioning
- Private bathrooms with showers
- Safe
- TV with DVD player (I can’t remember if there was satellite TV, sorry)
- Assortment of mosquito repellent for your body and a spray can for the room, just in case
- 2 queen size bedroom, 1 twin
Tasty Warungs and Shops Close By
I stayed at the villa for 5 days and split my meals between the villa, the quick ride into downtown, and the local selection of warungs and restaurants in the neighbourhood. My favourite was Santai because I loved the view and they made amazing food, fresh and on the spot. OH, and Bintang was as cheap as what you pay in the shops! It was great. In the video I time-lapsed the quick walk to Santai but basically you just walk out of Villa Gambar, turn left on the main road and walk about 7 minutes. It’s on the same side of the street you’ll be on, you can’t miss it.
Book via TheBaliAgent.com
I’ve used TheBaliAgent.com three times now, and I highly recommend them. The person you’ll likely hear back from when you make a booking or during your stay is Ben, the owner. He replies really quickly and is just a joy to deal with, day or night. He even helped me with a delivery order once because my phone had no credit and I could only use wifi but didn’t want to leave the villa (thanks again for that, Ben!).
Click here to see more amazing pics of Villa Gambar on TheBaliAgent.com, complete with dinner party scenes … trust me, it’s worth a look to see how beautiful the villas is at night when there’s a group. And be sure to follow them on Instagram. They don’t self-promote but instead share moments from life in Bali, it’s a great account to follow!!
